PURPOSE:To produce a novel fluorine-containing alkylsuccinic diester which is useful as a lubricant for precision parts required high precision lubricity, a surfactant, a releasing agent, an anticorrosive agent, particularly for a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A fluorine-containing alkylsuccinic diester of formula I (R1 is aliphatic alkyl, aliphatic alkenyl; R2, R3 are at least either one is fluoroalkyl, fluoroalkenyl and the other is aliphatic alkyl, aliphatic alkenyl; (k) to (n) are 0, 1 or more where k+1 is 2 or more), for example, a compound of formula II. The compound of formula I is obtained by addition reaction between an aliphatic alkylsuccinic anhydride or an aliphatic alkenylsuccinic anhydride and a fluoroalkyl ethylene oxide group adduct to alcohol or a fluoroalkenyl ethylene oxide group adduct to alcohol to form a monoester and esterifying the product with an aliphatic alkyl alcohol or an aliphatic alkenyl alcohol or an aliphatic alkyl ethylene oxide group adduct to alcohol in the presence of an acid catalyst. |
