PURPOSE:To manufacture inexpensive cushioning material that satisfies elasticity, lightness and surface smoothness by a method wherein bulky cotton-like body made of waste paper defibrated in dry system is mechanically compressed and molded and after spraying of water and drying are made, pulp fibers are stuck and bonded together. CONSTITUTION:As a discharge port of a waste paper hopper 1 is made to communicate with an inlet of an unraveling machine 4, the waste paper flows successively into the unraveling machine 4 and is defibrated gradually and flows out in the state of fluffs. As the defibrated waste paper is led to a cyclone separator 5, large and heavy fibers, although in small in specific gravity, are gathered to the lower part of the cyclone separator main body 51 while small and light fillers and adherent substances are carried away by air flow and are discharged through an upper discharge port 52 and then are collected with a bag filter 8 or the like. The fibers gathered in the lower part of the cyclone separator main body 51 are taken out successively in the form of bulky cotton-like body from a lower discharge port 53 through an airtight rotary feeder 54. Then, the cotton-like body is mechanically compressed and molded and after spraying of water, drying is made in a heat-drying tunnel 11 and the fibers are stuck and bonded together. |
