PURPOSE:To prevent the quantity of a reproduced image from being deteriorated even when an envelope level becomes too high or too low. CONSTITUTION:A gain switching circuit 5 is mounted in a VTR, and a magnetic tape is reproduced to make autotracking act. When the envelope level becomes too high or too low. gains is switched. Thus, the quality of the reproduced image is prevented from being deteriorated caused by a tracking error when the envelope level is too high or too low.
