The invention concerns a method for producing a plant substrate intended for growing plants, and a plant substrate produced by this method. According to the invention, the plant substrate is produced by forming a material web by dry-forming of natural fibres and plastic fibres acting as binder in one or more stages, adding seeds and/or fertilizer particles 12, 13 to the material web or the fibre material in at least one stage, in order to form the material web, and binding the material web together by application of heat. <IMAGE>
