PURPOSE:To improve image quality by making a pseudo-outline occurring in a display picture inconspicuous when the image is displayed on a PDP. CONSTITUTION:When the image based on an input video signal is halftone displayed, a chrominance signal (video signal) and horizontal/vertical synchronizing signals are obtained by inputting the video signal to a chrominance demodulation synchronizing separator part 2. Then, a signal whose frequency is made 1/2 by inputting the horizontal/vertical synchronizing signals to a 1/2 horizontal counter part 3 and a 1/2 vertical counter part 4 is obtained. Then, the horizontal synchronizing signal and the signal with 1/2 frequency are inputted to a clamp pulse level modulation part 5, and a clamp pulse changing the level of the video signal by the level equivalent to roughly 1/2 of the minimum display gradation at every display line, and further, reversing the level variation in the video signal at every field (odd numer, even number) frame is obtained. Then, the clamp pulse is inputted to a clamp part 6 to change the level of the video signal, and the occurrence position of the pseudo-outline is changed at every horizontal line or field (or frame) by displaying the image based on the video signal varying the level. |
