PURPOSE:To produce a slide member coated with a composite film having a low friction coefficient and high strength on the surface of a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A composite coating film in which iron oxides are dispersed in a parent phase of ceramics contg. Si is provided on the surface of a substrate to constitute a slide member. The composite coating film is formed on the substrate surface by thermal spraying and CVD.
