PURPOSE:To provide a high-pressure discharge lamp lighting device having the capability to prevent the blink of a discharge lamp generated due to the travel of the discharge point of a discharge arc along an electrode. CONSTITUTION:This discharge lamp lighting device has an inverter circuit 12 for feeding necessary power to a discharge lamp 10, and a feedback control system 17 for performing the feedback control of the inverter circuit 12 for detecting the lamp pressure, lamp current or lamp power of the discharge lamp 10, and providing necessary power. Also, a responsiveness selector circuit 19 is provided for selecting the responsiveness of the feedback control system 17, so as to quicken the responsiveness of the system 17 in the low luminous efficiency zone of the lamp 10, and delay the responsiveness in the high luminous efficiency zone. |
