PURPOSE:To prevent skin stimulation with scattered fibers, which occurs in the use of inorganic fiber, etc., by applying liquid paraffin or paraffin chloride homogeneously on the inorganic fiber. CONSTITUTION:An inorganic fiber, e.g. glass fiber, ceramic fiber or rock wool is treated with a treating liquid containing liquid paraffin or paraffin chloride homogeneously dispersed or dissolved in water, an organic solvent (e.g. benzene or toluene) or their mixture. In this treatment, the treating liquid is sprayed or coated on the inorganic fiber or the inorganic fiber is immersed in the treating liquid and the treated inorganic fiber is dried. This processing enables the prevention of skin stimulation caused by the direct contact or the indirect contact with scattered fibers and the scattering of the fiber during the production or processing or in the use of the inorganic fiber. Further, the addition of synthetic resin (e.g. polyvinyl acetate) emulsion (or solution) to the treating liquid enhances the preventive effect on scattering of fibers. |
