<p>PURPOSE:To constitute the device so that an area whose priority is low can be designated even in the case the area whose priority is low is contained entirely in an area whose priority is high by allowing a user to select an arbi trary area from an extracted area group. CONSTITUTION:In the case a key input is a position designating key, at that time point, an area existing in a position designated by a cursor 1 is extracted, and priority is given to plural extracted areas, respectively. For instance, the left upper part of a screen is set as a coordinate origin, and the priority is given in order of an area 3, an area 2 and an area 4 from the coordinate origin. In such a state, by setting the area 3 whose priority is the top as a candidate, the candidate is presented to a user. Thereafter, in the case the inputted key is a determination key for selecting the candicate, the are a 3 being the present candidate is set to a designated state. In the case the inputted key is the next candidate key, the candidate of the present area selection is changed to the area 2 having the next priority.
