PURPOSE:To produce a hollow ceramic fiber composed mainly of Si, N and 0 and usable as a material for filter, adsorbent, heat-insulation material, various composite materials, etc. CONSTITUTION:A solid ceramic fiber containing Si and N as essential components is heat-treated in the powder of an oxide-based ceramic in vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere to obtain the objective hollow ceramic fiber. The solid ceramic fiber is preferably produced by baking a ceramic fiber precursor made of a polysilazane. |
