HYPOLIPIDEMIC AGENT AND HYPOGLYCEMIC AGENT

PURPOSE:To obtain a hypolipidemic agent and hypoglycemic agent by using an extract of a plant having little side action as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The hypolipidemic agent and hypoglycemic agent are produced by extracting Anoectochilus formosanus with an organic solvent or water and using the extract as an active component. The hypolipidemic agent exhibits excellent effect to lower the total cholesterol level and the triglyceride level in blood and is effective for the prevention and treatment of various diseases caused by arteriosclerosis induced by the excessive taking of cholesterol. The hypoglycemic agent exhibits excellent effect to suppress the sugar concentration in blood and is effective for the prevention and treatment of diabetes.
