The shield is formed as part of a radome for an antenna (5) and is disposed at a distance in front of the antenna (5) and parallel thereto and has two plane plates (3, 4) transparent to radar beams, the dimensions of which are at least equal to the dimensions of the antenna. The cavity between the plates is filled with an ionisable gas and a cathode (1) and an anode (2) are arranged in the cavity along two opposing edges, and under corresponding electrical power a plasma is formed between them, which reflects impacting radar waves. The ionisable gas may be a low weight noble gas or hydrogen. An equation relating to the minimum plasma conditions required to achieve reflection is given.

|
