The invention relates to a valve for arrangement between a liquid conduit and a measuring device, especially a meter for determining the amount of liquid flowing through, having a feed conduit and a return conduit at least partially surrounding the feed conduit. A shut-off device arranged between a first and a second section of the feed conduit is furthermore provided. It contains an adjustable closure member which is of ball-shaped design and has a through passage which can be rotated about a centre line running perpendicular to the through passage so that, in one rotational position, the through passage establishes a connection between the first and the second section of the feed conduit.
