The invention applies to civil engineering, in concrete - for producing highly durable plaster binding substances. The object of the invention is a method of producing the binder. The method consists of natural gypsum hydrothermal working with saturated water steam under pressure; following drying, using water steam as a heat carrier until the physically tied water has completely evaporated; chopping and milling. To improve the binder's durability, it is offered to conduct the method as shown in Fig. 1, and to control the process with ultrasonic gauges, tied to the test pieces with two parallel planes in the autoclave. The method offers to measure the ultrasound longitudinal wave propagation speed CL0 and after to record the ultrasound relative propagation speed characteristic CL/Clo = f (t) during all hydrothermal and drying processes and to conclude the end of hydrothermal working and drying considering the curve.<IMAGE>
