Selector lever knob for use in automatic transmissions for motor vehicles, with a knob body which has a one-piece main body shaped from a hard resin. This knob body has an essentially uniform wall thickness and is covered with a soft resin. The knob body has a thick, wide portion at one end of the elongate one-piece workpiece and becomes gradually slimmer towards the other end of the elongate one-piece workpiece. The thick, wide portion has a hollow section which is formed in it by gas injection shaping.
