An arrangement for operating a ciphering device (SG), coupled to a data terminal device (DEE), in a data network comprising a plurality of subscriber stations connected via data transmission channels, wherein the ciphering device (SG) is assigned a device (EF) for facilitating the remote control of the ciphering device (SG). The device (EF) for facilitating remote control comprises a store (SP) which accommodates instruction sequences of data words which are assigned to operating functions for the ciphering device, and a comparator device (VG) which is coupled to the store (SP) and which acquires the input instruction sequences emanating from the data terminal device (DEE), compares these with the instruction sequences stored in the store, and in dependence upon the comparison triggers the corresponding operating functions in the ciphering device (SG). The execution of the operating functions is preferably acknowledged by an acknowledgement sequence. |
