A multi-cylinder papermaking dryer has first (1) and second (2) tiers of cylinders around which a web (W) travels supported on first and second dryer wires (k1, k2). Near the wire guide rolls (h1,h2) are wire areas (c-d) running without any web. Nozzles (s2) mounted inside the wire loop are used to blow air through these free wire sections into pockets (t2, 1: t1,2) between the cylinder tiers. The air is blown through plenum zones (p1+, n+) formed between an air guiding surface(op) downstream of the nozzle inside the wire and the free wire section (c-d). The guide wire (k1, k2) runs and the air flow nozzles (s2) are pref. arranged to cooperate to minimise the air needed to ensure the web runs in the desired path. |
