<p>The camshaft serves to control valves in internal combustion engines. It has a shaft (1) and at least one cam (2), which is slipped onto the shaft, is firmly connected to it and has a cut-out (4) to accommodate the shaft. In the region in which the cam is provided, a certain section of the shaft has an enlarged diameter relative to the other regions of the shaft. This region is produced by means of rollers or rolls, all-round beads or webs being formed by displacement of material in the circumferential direction of the shaft. The cam (2) is formed by forging. The cut-out (4) in the cam (2) to accommodate the shaft (1) is widened in the manner of a funnel at least on one side and over at least part of its axial length.
