Improvements to abrasive blasting machines

An abrasive recovery system for an abrasive blasting machine (1, 2, 3) comprises a main abrasive separator (6) for recovering used abrasive for refuse from contaminants. The contaminants are ducted to a second abrasive separator (9) for the separation of any further reusable abrasive from fines not recovered by the main separator (6). Both the main and the second separators (6, 9) preferably comprise air washing systems and the second separator (9) is fed with air from ducting (7) supplying the main separator (6). Preferably also, the main separator (6) is set to maximize the quantity of contaminants removed from the abrasive to be recycled and the second separator (9) is set to maximize the quantity of re-usable abrasive removed from the fines so that excessive wear of the blasting machine (1, 2, 3) can be avoided and a significant quantity of good abrasive can be recovered from the fines and contaminants.
