PURPOSE:To easily remove internally causative and externally causative stains, to not exerts influence on contact lenses and to decrease the stimuli on the eyes and the skin by incorporating an imidazolium betaine amphoteric surfactant and nonionic surfactant into the detergent. CONSTITUTION:The detergent contg. the imidazolium betaine amphoteric surfactant and the nonionic surfactant is applied to washing of the contact lenses. As a result, the lens surfaces are rapidly wetted with the detergent and the stains sticking to the lenses are easily removed. The former surfactant is adequately a compd. having the structure in which an imidazoline ring is ring-closed and the content thereof is preferably 0.5 to 30wt.%, more preferably 1.0 to 20wt.%. The latter surfactant is exemplified by, for example, polyoxyethylene alkyl ether, etc., and the surfactant having a smaller HLB value is more preferable.
