PURPOSE:To provide the coupler whose manufacturing process is simplified and whose coupling characteristic is set in accordance with a design value. CONSTITUTION:The high frequency coupler is provided with a first waveguide 1 constituted of a metallic pattern of a coplanar waveguide provided on a dielectric substrate 5, a dielectric film 3 provided on this first waveguide 1, and a second waveguide 2 formed as a ground potential metallic pattern between the metallic pattern provided on this dielectric film 3 and a ground potential electrode 10, and the center line in the longitudinal direction of a non-ground metallic pattern of a first waveguide 1 and the center line in the longitudinal direction of a non-ground metallic pattern of a second waveguide are set in parallel to each other in advance, and by using a distance between the two center lines as a parameter, a degree of coupling between two waveguides is calculated. In such a way, when couplers of different characteristics are required in one integrated circuit, it can cope therewith by only a design change of a wiring pattern without changing thickness of the dielectric film or the material. |
