PURPOSE:To provide the method and apparatus for production of waveguide type optical parts with guide grooves for pin fitting which can be connected to other optical parts by pin fitting. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber arranging means 17 mounted on a slicer device 15 and a blade 16 for inscribing guide grooves are positioned to each other. The waveguide type optical parts 21 to be inscribed with the guide grooves for pin fitting are placed on a fine adjustment base 20 arranged between this optical fiber arranging means 17 and a photodetecting base 19. The respective end faces of the optical fiber arranging mean 17 and the photodetecting base 19 are arranged on both end faces of the waveguide type optical parts 21 and thereafter, the fine adjusting base 20 is finely moved while the light from the optical fiber arranging means 17 is inputted, by which optical axes are aligned among the optical fiber arranging means 17, the waveguide type optical parts 21 and the photodetecting base 19. The blade 16 for inscribing the guide grooves is then actuated to inscribe the guide grooves for pin fitting coaxial with the guide pins 17c (17d) of the optical fiber arranging means 17 on the waveguide type optical parts 21.
