PURPOSE:To provide an optical data processing device comprising a two-dimensional matrix of variable-sensitivity photodetectors free from effects of capacitance by irradiating the photodetectors with light after sensitivity control voltage is applied to them. CONSTITUTION:MSM-PDs 4 (variable sensitivity photodetector) are arrayed two-dimensionally. An active matrix driver circuit applies sensitivity-control voltage to the MSM-PDs through drain buses connected with a hold circuit 12. After the control voltage is applied through a pass of frame scanning via capacitors 10, a light-emitting array is turned on and the photocurrent in the MSM-PDs is sampled. This removes the effects of differentiation current, and it is possible to form an optical data processing device capable of high frequency operation.
