The method provides the bootable EISA card that can boot operating system without changing system ROM. The method and ROM comprise: a booting card ID having the character which means it is a bootable card, a product ID having a product name for card, an I/O ID meaning the type and version of card, an entry point table containing the entry points list and offset information, an entry-init initializing the card and booting apparatuses (HDD,CTD), an entry-I/O performing I/O, an entry-config-data containing default configuration data for bootable EISA card.
