The operation of the charging valve in a water-closet flush cistern is controlled by a floating body 1. In the float 1 there are several systems which affect its floating ability and its weight, for example a lower, downwards-open air-cushion space 2 at the bottom of the float, an upper downwards-open air-cushion space 3 and a water-collecting loading space 4, sealed at the bottom and at the sides, which affects the weight of the float. The float also contains a control system 5;7 for controlling at least the effective volume of the lower air-cushion space 2 and of the loading space 4. <IMAGE>
