The present invention relates to keratin fibre treatment compositions which contain a naphthalene compound with a phosphoric acid group, phosphonic acid group or carboxyl group or a salt of the compound. The keratin fibre treatment compositions according to the invention never have an adverse effect on the flexible and soft feel of the fibres, are able to confer on fibres a new shape and, simultaneously, elasticity, enhance the shaping effect of curling, waving or straightening permanent wave treatments and maintain the shape of the keratin fibres which have been chemically pretreated by permanent wave or straightening permanent wave treatment for a lengthy period.
