A method for producing zinc oxide by precipitating a single-phase precursor which consists, in particular, of a single-phase composite zinc/dopant oxalate in which bismuth atoms and other dopant atoms replace the zinc atoms, whereafter the composite oxalate is subjected to a decomposition heat treatment to give the doped zinc oxide. The method may be used to produce zinc oxide powders in which all the components are uniformly present, and which have a controllable morphology, a high specific surface area, and a remarkable densifiability, particularly when sintered at a moderate temperature (740 - 1000 °C).
|
