<p>This invention relates to a method for inhibiting or suppressing in an animal the contraction of vessels lined with endothelial tissue, which contractions are caused by anoxia or hypoxia. The method comprises administering to such an animal an effective therapeutic (contraction-inhibiting) amount of an avermectin class antibiotic such as ivermectin or a derivative thereof for a time period sufficient to inhibit or suppress said contractions.</p> |
