The invention relates to a method for increasing the efficiency of solar cells. Amorphous and crystalline solar cells are arranged such that rays of shorter-wavelength light strike the amorphous solar cells and rays of longer-wavelength light strike the crystalline solar cells. If sunlight is passed through a prism it is refracted. In this case, the short-wave light (violet) is refracted more strongly than the long-wave light (red). Amorphous solar cells are now placed in the region of the predominantly violet light and monocrystalline or polycrystalline solar cells are placed in the region of the predominantly red light. The load is finally connected up in a known way.
