Cutting tools without their own guidance are, through skew attachment (Figure 1), easily damaged or thereby cut an unclean thread. By inserting guide sleeves between tap wrench and die tap (Figure 2), and in the case of rethreading nuts by clipping on a guide sleeve (Figure 5), a skew attachment of the cutting tools to the workpiece is forcibly avoided. The cutting tools are applicable wherever threads are cut or recut by hand. If the workpiece is too short for the guide sleeve, (for example in the case of stud bolts), the tool can also be used turned round, in which case however the "constrained guidance" according to the invention is lost. <IMAGE>
