The present invention relates to a write-signal input buffer among the input buffers of a semiconductor memory device for receiving a write-enable signal from outside the chip. The present invention provides a write-signal input buffer which comprises at least one input stage for receiving a write-enable signal which is applied from outside the chip, a logic device for generating a write-driver signal as a signal corresponding to the output signal of the input stage, and a holding region for holding the output signal of the logic device, which region also comprises a switching device in its holding path. Consequently, a normal driver operation is carried out according to the input of an external write-enable signal, independently of background noise induced in a data output operation, whereby a correct writing operation on the chip is ensured. The operating characteristics relating to the time sequence can be improved if the chip is fitted in the system, since a stable and accurate driving is carried out during the writing operation. In addition, the reliability of the integrated semiconductor circuit with respect to the writing operation is improved.
