The emitter of a coded train of optical pulses includes four light-emitting diodes (10-13) in serial mounting (1), in order to determine a conduction threshold voltage of 10 volts, whereas the source (2) supplies a voltage of 3 volts; it includes, linked between source (2) and serial mounting (1), an inductor (31), and, in parallel with the serial mounting (1), the source-drain space of a MOS transducer (30). A generator (6) of a primary coded train of electrical pulses turns off a relay transistor (40), upon each pulse, in order to make the MOS (30) conduct, and to charge the inductor (31). The pulse trailing edge turns on the transistor (40) and turns off the MOS (30), so that the overvoltage at the terminals of the inductor (31) allows this inductor to discharge into the series mounting (1). An inductor (42) in series in the collector of the relay transistor (40) creates an overvoltage, on the relay transistor being turned off, which promotes saturation of the MOS (30). <IMAGE>
