A process for forming the image of a spatially fixed object uses a primary (wave) radiation, in particular ultrasonic radiation, directed towards the object. The image formation is carried out by means of echo signals received by an echo signal receiver, on the basis of their propagation time and/or amplitude with respect to an axis of the object oriented in the direction in space of the primary radiation. The object (1) is located between the primary radiation emitter/echo signal receiver (2) and a reference surface (6) oriented perpendicularly to the direction (5) in space of the primary radiation (3) and which reflects the primary radiation (3) as an echo signal (4) more strongly than other areas of the object located in the field of representation. The mean or expected propagation time and/or amplitude of an echo signal (4') from the primary radiation (3') which passes through the object (1), is reflected by the reference surface (6) and received by the primary radiation emitter/echo signal receiver (2), is determined or predetermined as a reference signal. The propagation time and/or amplitude of an echo signal (4) from the primary radiation (3) which passes through the object (1), is reflected by the reference surface (6) and received by the primary radiation emitter/echo signal receiver (2), is determined, and the deviation between the echo signal (4) reflected by the reference surface (6) and the reference signal is evaluated. |
