Method of video image archiving

A description is given of a method of image recording and image archiving of video image data, with a computer-controlled video recorder, the tape drive of which is controllably connected to a computer unit and can be used as a storage system for video data blocks. The invention is distinguished in that the data structure on the video tape permits both absolute addressing and identifying marking of the tape, using a combination of control characters in the data recording.
