The invention relates to a fire protection garment which is made of fire-resistant material and has a closable front opening. A closure flap is attached adjacent to the front opening and can be fastened beyond the latter. A collar is formed around a neck opening. A front neck protection band is formed integrally in an upper section of the closure flap in order to provide a continuous shielding of the opening between opposite free end parts of the collar. The protective band extends over the flap and has wing sections opposite each other which extend from opposite sides of the flap. Each flap can be fastened to a corresponding one of the opposite free end parts of the collar separately and in a variable manner in order to adjust the size and configuration of the neck opening separately as a function of the desired size of the neck opening.
