The invention relates to a display unit, particularly for motor vehicles, with a display plane facing a particular observer position and containing a first display element (2), and with a second display element (9), the display of which can be reflected towards the observer via a transparent panel arranged between observer and display plane and inclined by an angle with respect to the viewing direction of the observer. To ensure that the second display reflected in is particularly easily readable, it is proposed according to the invention that the first display element exhibits a rotatable panel pointer (3), the pointer tip area (33) of which can be illuminated independently of its pointer shaft area (34) and, when the pointer shaft area is not illuminated, the second display element is activated in such a manner that its reflected-in display (42) appears in the darkened area (43) of the panel pointer. <IMAGE>
