The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a cable harness which consists of a plurality of electrical cables and in the case of which ends of the cables are connected to one another in a welding node and the respectively free ends of the cables have been fabricated, before the formation of the welding nodes, with the aid of a so-called automatic cable fabrication machine. The invention furthermore relates to an automatic cable fabrication machine for fabrication of electrical cables. The invention is based on the object of reducing the labour cost for the manufacture of a cable harness having welding nodes. The solution according to the invention of the object placed is distinguished by a method according to the invention of the generic type stated initially, in that the cables which pass through the automatic cable fabrication machine and are intended for the formation of a cable harness or the cable harness are automatically gripped and are supplied, with their ends to be welded, to a welding station, preferably within the automatic cable fabrication machine.
