The invention relates to a method of processing mushroom stalks, in the case of which process the mushroom stalks are removed from the bed in which the mushrooms are cultivated, are cleaned of earth and are further processed. In this arrangement, moisture is extracted from the stalks, and any earth which may still be adhering on the stalks is removed therefrom. The resulting solid is disposed of as refuse material or is used as a basic material for animal feed.
