A method and a tag dispenser have been developed for the application of self-adhesive tags (21) around cylindrical objects, especially intended for tagging of unpackaged fish where the tags are placed round the front part of the tail fin of the fish. The tags do not require to stick to the objects which are tagged. The tags (21) are placed one after the other on a backing paper (22) which forms a continous band. A tag-applying mechanism (5) holds the tag (21) securely before it is separated from the backing paper (22), removes it from the backing paper (22), and moves it under the object. Claws (6) which hold the tag by means of suction cups (7) encircle the object and the tag (21) forms a ring, the outer ends of the tag being located with the adhesive-coated sides against each other so that they stick together. |
