The invention concerns an active-substance patch designed to release estradiol to the skin, the patch being characterized by the fact that it consists of a backing film and, joined to it, an active-substance reservoir in which the active substance is at least partly soluble and which is provided with a pressure-sensitive adhesive, plus a protective releasable layer covering the adhesive film. The reservoir is a polymer matrix to which is added a penetration accelerator of the general formula (I), in which R = -CH2OH or -CH2-O-CH2-CHOH-CH2OH, to improve the bioavailability of the estradiol. |
