PURPOSE:To detect the remaining amount of ink by an inexpensive device with high accuracy by driving a head carrier loading an ink head and an ink tank with the use of a lead screw and providing a load detecting part at both ends of the lead screw. CONSTITUTION:When a recording data is transmitted to the recording apparatus and a motor shaft 1a of a head carrier driving motor 1 is rotated, a lead screw 4 is rotated via a belt 3 or the like. As a result, a pin of the apparatus is fitted in a lead groove 4c of the lead screw. At the same time, a head carrier 8 loading an ink recording head 11a and an ink tank 11 is reciprocated along a guide shaft 14. In this case, an elastic member 7 is set at an end face 4b of the lead screw in a manner to be in touch with the end face 4b. At the moment when recording is finished, the force of intertia acts on the head carrier 8 and the lead screw 4. When the volume in the ink tank 11 is changed, the force of inertia is also changed, resulting in the change of the shifting amount of the elastic member 7. Therefore, the remaining amount of ink is detected from the shifting amount of the elastic member 7. |
