<p>PURPOSE:To properly regenerate a filter in a simple and inexpensive structure by regenerating the filter by way of combusting soot at the time when electrical resistance of the filter scavenging the soot in exhaust gas is measured and this measured value is lowered down to a specified value as the soot is accumulated. CONSTITUTION:Inside of a package 2 having an inlet 1 and an outlet 11 of exhaust gas 12, a filter 4 is stored. In this case, to the filter 4, a starting terminal 3 and an ending terminal 3' to measure this electrical resistance are connected and simultaneously, they are connected to a resistance measuring instrument 7. Additionally, a starting terminal 9 and an ending terminal 9' of an electric heater 6 to heat the filter 4 are connected to a battery 10. Furthermore, the resistance measuring instrument 7 and the battery 10 are connected to a CPU 8. In the case when soot 13 of exhaust gas 12 is scavenged by the filter 4 and accumulated, an electrical resistance value of the filter 4 lowered in accordance with this accumulation is measured. Consequently, at the point of time when the specified electrical resistance value is measured, by combusting the 12, the filter 4 is regenerated.</p> |
