An information recording/reproducing apparatus comprises a housing having a movable front panel in which a card inserting slot for loading an optical card is formed,a conveying passage having a first end communication with the inserting slot, a cleaning device detachably, provided adjacent to the first end inside of the card conveying passage, for cleaning the optical card to be conveyed, a shuttle reciprocally mounted in the conveying passage and reciprocally movable along the conveying passage when holding the optical card, and a lock mechanism capable of locking the shuttle in the conveying passage at the first end therof. The lock mechanism is controlled to lock the shuttle when the cleaning device is detached from the housing,to unlock the shuttle when the cleaning device is attached to the housing.
