The present invention relates to novel 2thiazolidinone derivatives of the general formula: <IMG> (I) wherein A stands for hydrogen, halogen or a C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkoxy or nitro group: and n is 0 or 1. The compounds according to the invention exhibit cytoprotective and gastric acid secretion-inhibiting activity and may, thus, be used in the therapy of gastric and duodenal ulcers. Processes for preparing the thiazolidinone derivatives (I) are also described, as well as pharmaceutical compositions containing them.
