PURPOSE:To provide the endoscope system which can observe effectively an image for showing a variation of a hemoglobin oxygen saturation degree even at the time of usual visible observation. CONSTITUTION:An R filter has a transmission characteristic containing wavelength of 650nm. A surface-sequentially illuminating light allowed to pass through these R, G and B filters is radiated on an object to be photographed, and its reflected light is picked up by a CCD 19. Subsequently, by memories 24r, 24g and 24b, images of RGB are synchronized, and subjected to color display by a monitor 7. The displayed image is an image constituted of an R image containing wavelength of 650nm and usual images of G and B, and therefore, becomes a visible image containing information of an oxygen saturation degree of hemoglobin. Thus, a variation of the oxygen saturation degree of hemoglobin can be discriminated by the same color tone as a usual visible observation image, a lesional part, etc., can be observed easily, and the diagnostic capability is improved.
