PURPOSE:To obtain the catalyst used to produce a nitrile by the vapor phase catalytic oxidation reaction of an alkane and ammonia by drying the soln. or the slurry containing Mo, V and Te by a spray-drying method or a freeze-drying method, pulverizing and heat-treating it. CONSTITUTION:In the production method of the catalyst used to produce a nitrile by the vapor phase catalytic oxidation reaction of an alkane and ammonia, the soln. or the slurry containing Mo, V and Te is dried by the spray-drying method or the freeze-drying method, and an obtained dried product is heat- treated and pulverized. The catalyst obtained in this way is capable of producing a desired nitrile at high yield using the alkane as a starting material without the presence of a halogenide or water, etc., in a reaction system, moreover, at a comparatively lower temp. of the order of 400-450 deg.C. |
