A method of therapeutically administering certain BZ1 specific trifluorobenzodiazepines in order to maximize the BZ1 effects and minimize the BZ2 effects on the human central nervous system in order to maximize the anti-anxiety, anticonvulsant and hypnotic effects and minimize the ataxic and incoordination effects of the drug. Also, a method of sublingual administration of trifluorobenzodiazepines and certain other compounds in order to decrease unwanted dealkylated metabolites.
