PURPOSE:To obtain the steering assistance state which is always optimum according to the physical power of a driver, as for a grip pressure sensitive type electronically controlled power steering device which controls the steering assistance quantity according to the grip pressure of a steering wheel. CONSTITUTION:A power steering device is equipped with an assistance quantity adjusting mechanism 1, control means 30 for controlling the assistance quantity adjusting mechanism 1, and a grip pressure sensor 34 for detecting the grip pressure of the steering wheel of an automobile, and the control means 30 controls the assistance quantity adjusting mechanism 1 so that the level of the steering force necessary in the steering of an automobile becomes smaller as the grip pressure is lower, on the basis of the grip pressure information detected by the grip pressure sensor 34. |
