<p>PURPOSE: To provide the subject method and apparatus making automatically a headlight intensity modulable, by comprising the steps of processing a radar echo signal and of modulating the intensity of at least one headlight in response to the detection of a moving object. CONSTITUTION: A processor means 112, after the detection of a moving object, determines whether or not a signal controlled moving object is within a predetermined distance from a host vehicle. This can be determined by measuring a travel time of a radar signal reflected from the moving object. The processor means 112, if the moving object is within the predetermined region, gives a command to a modulator means 118 by a headlight modulating signal carried through a signal path 114, thus modulating the intensity of a headlight H from a high beam mode to a low beam mode. The modulator means 118, after the passage of the moving object, change the headlight H to a high beam mode in response to an command from the processor means 112.</p> |
