PURPOSE:To obtain a porous open-cell silicone by freezing a water-base organopolysiloxane emulsion and subliming water in the frozen emulsion without melting it. CONSTITUTION:A porous open-cell silicone is obtd. by freezing a water-base organopolysiloxane emulsion which forms an elastomer when water is eliminated and subliming water in the frozen emulsion to dry the emulsion without melting it. The emulsion comprises a linear organopolysiloxane having at least two silanol groups per molecule, a crosslinker therefor selected from the group consisting of a colloidal silica, an alkali metal silicate, a hydrolyzable silane, and a condensate of a partial hydrolyzate of a hydrolyzable silane, a cure catalyst, an emulsifier, and water. |
